TOP-LEVEL DOMAINS

The highest level of domain names of the Internet are The top-level domains (TLDs) and form the DNS root zone. After the creation of Domain Name System in 1980s, domain name space has been divided into two main groups .There are some of the domains representing a set of multi-organizations domains. Such as GOV, EDU, COM, MIL, ORG, NET, and INT.
At the time of development of Internet,creation of additional generic top-level domains get essential. At the end of October 2009, 21 generic top-level domains and 250 two-letter country-code top-level domains has been created. In 2008 in the 32nd International Public ICANN Meeting there decided to start a naming policy of top level domain which tends to inhance a step forward as the new generic top-level domains get introduced.

LOWER-LEVEL DOMAINS ( Second-level domains)-

the second-level domain (SLD) names comes after the top-level domains . The names which are at the left of .com, .net, etc some other type of top level domains.

The domains which are to the left of a second-level domain are called as third-level domains . Also there are fourth- and fifth-level domains and many more.
